A friend reminded me of the book "How to win friends and influence people" and I was on a road trip, so I figured let me finish it as I’m almost done with "the world is flat". Turns out I only have part of it, but at the end, he summarized the whole thing, so I get to drop them down.
- become genuinely interested in other people
- smile
- a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language
- be a good listener, encourage others to talk about themselves
- talk in terms of the other person’s interest
- make the other person feel important and do it sincerely
Looks like the first one is the most unnatural to me for now, I probably should try to do it using the 5 steps to solve problems/challenges. When talking about #6, he mentioned that he wrote "You are important" on a piece of paper and keep it somewhere easy to see, thinking that may help me as well.
